Hi Lisa, My comment seemed to get chopped

Glad you like Free Radicals. It’s my
favourite too. I can remember projecting it
several times as a film, and found in the
projection box that I simply couldn’t keep
still - it’s such a body film, it can move
anyone to dance. In Lye’s words, “it rattles
the marbles in your skull”.
The scratches are like crazy lighting streaks
in the night sky. I must add, though, that
if ever there was a film that looked better
as a film than as a low-res digital copy, it
was Free Radicals. Every scratch is full of
Lye’s “body English” (as he called it), with
lots of subtle texture. (He used to drive the
film lab crazy by asking them for more subtle
grey tones, not just contrasty burnt out B&W.)
Anyway, delighted to hear that Free R has another fan!
