Advice to My Sons
“Advice to my sons. Never put whisky into hot water bottle crossing borders of dry states or countries. Rubber will spoil taste. Never make love with pants on. Beer on whisky, very risky. Whisky on beer, never fear. Never eat apples, peaches, pears, etc. while drinking whisky except long French-style dinners, terminating with fruit. Other viands have mollifying effect. Never sleep in moonlight. Known by scientists to induce madness. Should bed stand beside window on clear night, draw shades before retiring. Never hold cigar at right-angles to fingers. Hayseed. Hold cigar at diagonal. Remove band or not as you prefer. Never wear red necktie. Provide light snorts for ladies if entertaining. Effects of harder stuff on frail sex sometimes disastrous. Bathe in cold water every morning. Painful but exhilarating. Also reduces horniness. Have haircut once a week. Wear dark clothes after 6 p.m. Eat fresh fish for breakfast when available. Avoid kneeling in unheated stone churches. Ecclesiastical dampness causes prematurely gray hair. Fear tastes like a rusty knife and do not let her into your house. Courage tastes of blood. Stand up straight. Admire the world. Relish the love of a gentle woman. Trust in the Lord.”

“…Searching for a cure to the current epidemic of “Eternal Teen-Ager Syndrome” which has striken the vast majority of American males. Enough with the flip flops and short pants. Let’s start dressing like grown men…” Giuseppe (An affordable Wardrobe)

AND : The new Kanye Album Is OUT OF COTROL!
Surprising! Sad! Funny! Full of insecurity and questions and production out of this world!
OK wait, the first 7 songs are better than the last 4. Love Lockdown, Welcome to heat break beeing my favorite so far.
I saw this on AP under motion references. A series of these were shot by artist David Michalek using a special high-definition camera running at 1,000 frames a second and projected huge on three outdoor screens, each several storeys high.
Shot at such speed, a five-second gesture expands to fill 10 minutes of screen time, reveling all series of unthought of our uncontious motions.
Ballet is good place to start analyzing motion, because the movements are already so edited, stylized, and clear.
Nothing gtoo fantasitc is going on these days, Apart that photo of Zachary,up there, that’s pretty fantastic.
The Metro stations are full of posters of Amadou and Mariam’s new album and it’s depressing the hell out of me. Other than that I started directing a new commercial, and despite not being as fun to do as a music video it’s still interesting work and pays the bills, so there.
Ahhh! Also! Congrats to Ellen for her new fancy job! running the race even in recession times!
Boring News:
_While working I’ve been listening to the Animation podacst, and got really really excited! Ya’ll should listen to it even if you’re skeptical and think all animator are nerds, (which is not totally true btw) or something.
_ The new season of RadioLab started, the first episode, about Choice is very interesting.
Yeasterday I receved a really nice e-mail by Ian Lumsden an animation teacher a the performing Arts College in England. He wrote: “In part sorrow at your cancelled project may I recommend my post today on your work”
He helds the Animation Blog in which with an he finds and presents very eloquently new and old artists.
I was very surprised to find may people I didn’t know about, which in the animation business (that is quite incestuous here in France) is not always a given
Thank you Ian! (I’ll be adding a link to his blog soon)
You should definitely check out his last post on Bill Collins & Jeff Scher “No Time” which is a beautiful film.
I also stumbled upon “The animation Podcast” which features a bunch f interviews with the 2nd generation of Disney “Old Man” my heros as a kid and teenager: Glen Keane, Andreas Deja, James Baxter, Eric Goldberg ect…It’s making me pretty nostalgic an eager to listen!
