Martin Arnold_ Alone Life Wastes Andy Hardy 1998

Filed under: Experimental Film, art — Lisa Paclet @ 9:04 am

This film by Martin Arnold simply though dissected mouvment reaveals hidden meanings within narrative holliwood films .
This is how the man himself puts it:

“The cinema of Hollywood is a cinema of exclusion, reduction and denial, a cinema of repression. There is always something behind that which is being represented, which was not represented. And it is exactly that that is most interesting to consider.”

Check it :

I have been wanting to post this for a long time now, but was waiting to find a clip of the embrace between “mom and son” (see photo above/right) which is very very creepy, and very representative of Arnold’s idea. I still haven’t found it but i am posting the “alone” bit anyway, because I just saw that it was posted on Vvork and became jalouse, like of a lover you know always there for you, to which you pay little attention, utill the day you see him running around with someone ealse.

Bam.

PURE CINEMA IS WHAT I BELIVE IN

Filed under: Interests, art, dream — Lisa Paclet @ 8:11 am

Last night i dreamed that i was feeding a tiny black bird a big wasabi pea. He would eat it all in one gulp and then become a round ball with little eyes.

AND

PURE CINEMA IS WHAT I BELIEVE IN:

Pure Cinema is the film theory that a movie maker can create a more emotionally intense experience using autonomous film techniques, as opposed to using stories, characters, or actors.

Unlike nearly all other fare offered via celluloid, pure cinema rejects the link and the character traits of artistic predecessors such as literature or theatre. Rather than seeing film as part of an evolutionary continuum, it declares cinema to be its own unique art form that should not borrow from any other. As such, “pure cinema” is made up of nonstory, noncharacter films that convey abstract emotional experiences through unique cinematic devices such as montage (the Kuleshov Effect), camera movement and camera angles, sound-visual relationships, super-impositions and other optical effects, and visual composition.

There you have it. Love it or leave it alone.

Good ol’ Stan Brakhage made this with 2 pieces of transparent tape, a splicer and some leafs and mosquitoes. One of the clearest example of film made without film, or “Pure Cinema”.

to make sure the toothbrush and toothpaste are not, on the floor?
Is it possible to live not knowing where this thingas are? Or if they are on the floor?
who’s it to keep it together?
