HAHA! the photographer Baudouin sent me the negative scans of all the photos he took last week for the book “I am a Parisian Lady”! There are some ridiculous ones! We choose the one with the horizontal leg up (First one).

Oh , yes and this blog is quite self centered! Thank you very much!

BTW Leslie, Rory and Lethita will also be in this book! And apparently we are all striking GYM poses! Will post theirs onece they get them and if they let me!

- Big Sadness! the other day (Feb. 27) while running i was listening to “Friday night at the drive inn Bingo” by mr. Jens Lekman getting quite excited, thinking “Oh well one good thing is that next time he plays in Paris i won’t miss him” and little did i know, he was playing that very same night at the Nouveau Casino!!! And i didn’t even check. Lately it’s all been quite a sad state of affairs.

+ Still while running I saw a mature man sporting a big live brown bunny on his shoulder.

Fabergé Eggs

2 weeks ago Amsterdam:

Johann Zachary and I were walking home after a very good day, the sun had set so recently, you could still smell it.

For some reason the conversation unrolled upon my great grand parents who were Russian from one side and German from the other. Johann asked if by any chance the Russian Great Grand Parents might have had some Fabergé Eggs , that we could now sell and make a million from.

I’ve never met  them, I know though, that the Russians G.G.P., had a quite the impact on the decoration of my childhood home: Even with my parents’ taste for very simple and rustic furniture, once inherited, they managed to put to good use all sorts of Russian carpets, Weird ‘20 marbo lamps with animal heads, clocks, wolf furs covers, ’20s dresses, family portraits, a shiny bar cabinet, an old piano as well as a random assortment of nick-nacks.

All of these things were, according to the family legend, transported by Great Grandma from Moscow to Bologna in a carriage pulled by horses. My mom used to show me around the house like it was a museum, every once in a while pulling out something i had never seen before and telling me fragmented stories about them. We had photo of them over their old beat up piano: They were in their home in Russia i suppose, standing straight at the end of a curve stairway, holding hands; it might have been their wedding, she was wearing a white empire style dress, she was beautiful, i didn’t use to think so as a kid, but now i can see it.

It’s like a taste for oysters or gorgonzola, it has to grow on you.

It’s a decision, a deliberate taste. Like the one you might develop for Fabergé Eggs.

Public Service Announcement

Filed under: Interests, Rants — Lisa Paclet @ 5:13 am

So, yesterday night around 1 am my good friend suggested i should treat this blog as some sort of Public Service Announcement system providing random infos to the folks that read it everyday; the kind that can be dropped here and there as conversation items.

I suppose it is already a random accumulation of things… so there. The only loose rule that I’ve been applying so far is that I have to talk from direct experience or the experience of close fiends, i do not really like the web wide hunt for “cool items” which make lots of blogs look similar and a little cold.

The same reasons (writing from direct experience) apply to the blogs i love, like Ellen’s, Kendra’s, Tao’s and Anastaia’s. I’m sure there’s plenty of otheres that i do not know about, but you can only concern yourself with so many things.

This is not some manifesto bullshit. I’m just talking.

Have a conversation.

+If you haven’t bought it yet, go get your copy of Self Service Magazine and read Rory’s Interview with Courtney Love it’s hilarious. If you know the behind the scenes story it’s even better. But that i will keep for myself.

Here is from the n1 Genius of Motion/Graphic/Music Syncro mr. Oskar Fischinger.

There are so many more films of his that should be seen, but they are not on the youtube at this moment. When i was a teenager I owned his work in videotapes, but then grew moved away, and left my collection of tapes in Florence.

Here in Paris spent ages looking for his films in DVD and for the longest time only re:Voir had the rights to distribute his stuff and they had some sort of no no policy towards dvds. I tried to have someone explain me why but failed to get a clear response. Finally though, some other companies are now able to distribute him so there’s a proliferation of dvds of his great work all over the place.

One night in New York i came home (to Nick and Renda’s old app.) and Nick was playing this dvd watchinging it by himself in the dark. We had a beer, we were calm.

I think that is my best memory of watching Oskar Fischinger.

BAUDOUIN PHOTOGRAPHER “CHEZ MOI”

lisa-one-leg-up.jpg lisa-leg-up.jpg

hands-up.jpg lisa-road.jpg

These are Some of the Polariods he took pre-shoot, the actual pictures ended up being much crazier, with me balacing on one foot with one leg thown back, or jumping and reaching for the sword on the wall with florescent orange Pierre Hardys’. I’m really excited to see the actual pictures!

Baudoin was funny and without putting any pressure was able to scout out what he liked in the house and discard things that would have been too staged.

At first we were supposed to shoot in the silver bedroom , but he found that “trop épurée” (for once i had really cleaned up!) so we did it in the only spot where there was some natural pile of junk : the studio.
He got really excited once he found our old diy road/tripod made with a curtain stick and some fluo tape: He had me holding it in all sorts of poses with my small dv cam screwed one at the tip of it.

Man ! Lately all the posts have been about photo or video shoots!

Oh well.

The Photographer Baudouin who took this beautiful picture of Leslie and the above Parisian celebrities, came to to my apartament yesterday to take a picture of me with some of my junk for a book called “I am a Parisian Lady”.

I like the way he assembles and compose all the stuff that surrounds the enviroment people live in; making “the stuff” and “the person” integrating and complementary parts of the same space. Hits of people’s lives without hyper realism.
